Transworld Skateboarding Magazine was founded in 1983 as an alternative to Thrasher Mag. Transworld represents the "Skate and Create" attitude rather than the "Skate and Destroy" mentality. Transworld has worked closely with legendary photographers such as J. Grant Brittain and Spike Jonze since the 80's. Nowadays, Spike is even an Oscar winner and he's credited as the mastermind behind Girl Skateboards' "Pretty Sweet" video. Pro skaters like Lance Mountain, Tony Hawk, Steve Berra and Mark Gonzales have appeared or contributed to the magazine greatly. Today, the Carlsbad-based mag is not only known for its print edition, but also for its online presence and Transworld video productions.
