Key Street: The Dream of Starting Your Own Streetwear Label
Jaxin Hall has been creating designs since 2006. With more and more people telling him he should print his graphics on T-shirts, he quit his job and founded a company: Key Street.
The story took place in New Zealand in 2012, so Key Street is a relatively young and small—but excellent—company. Hall himself is still responsible for the designs and graphics of his products. His graphics are reminiscent of current tattoo trends, yet they remain timeless. Jaxin Hall draws inspiration from nature and vintage fishing and hunting graphics. The key, as the symbol for Key Street, can almost always be found in his designs.
Skateboarding and Key Street
Jaxin Hall grew up skateboarding in New Zealand, and the design aspect of the sport had a particularly strong influence on him. The founder of Key Street was fascinated by early Element and Alien Workshop graphics. “My own style and my designs were shaped by skateboarding and showed me who I am,” Hall saidin an interview with Titus, which you can also read online.
Key Street Supports Skateboarders: The Team
Of course, for a brand like Key Street, which grew out of skateboarding, supporting a team is a matter of honor. Key Street’s pro team includes such well-known names as Dave Bachinsky, Garrett Hill, Serra Fellers, Christian Sereika, and Kris Markovich. Among the AMs on the team are Brodie Penrod and Edgar Barrera, who we’re sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from.
