Based on filmmaker Ryan Gershell's favorite camera, the legendary Sony VX 1000, today's brand originated in one of his video projects with a group of skateboarders from San Francisco. The name was quickly transferred to this skate crew, which became known for its crazy and sometimes life-threatening downhill runs. After this first video, every skateboarder worldwide knew what the term “GX1000” stood for, and what could be more obvious than simply founding a brand with this name? With the slogan “Bomb Hills Not Countries!”, the guys also immediately had a slogan that is now known around the globe. On top of that, they’ve got Hamburg’s Willow Voges Fernandez—currently the gnarliest German skateboarder—on their team, and that alone is reason enough to celebrate the brand!
