‘Another year has passed’ is what some people will have thought when they arrived at the skatepark in Münster-Gievenbeck on Sunday 29 June 2025. The only unusual sight was the new graffiti on the roof and bench, otherwise it could have been 2024. Thomas Weber, the skatepark's ‘neighbour’, flew over the obstacles, the guys and girls from TITUS prepared the drinks stand and registration and Hillie set the mood on the mic. HALT! Something was new here...?! Hillie, aka Philipp Wehowsky, original local and favourite from Münster, had taken over the MC's job and that promised the best entertainment through the Soundboks speakers! Of course, the skateboarders were also supposed to provide entertainment, but it was extremely hot, which was perhaps one of the reasons why the area was slow to fill up.

Who will become "Local of the Year" 2025?
After the sun had reached its daily zenith, it slowly became a little more crowded and, it's hard to believe, a little hazy. This was a bit of a relief for riders and spectators alike, and in the end there were 20 starters. Lars Kasper, a young ripper, grinded the big hubba and Mathisse and Carlo proved once again that almost all TITUS Münster employees are damn good skateboarders.
Unfortunately, various young rippers from Münster were in Berlin this weekend, so some familiar faces were missing. Instead, the somewhat older warhorses Johannes Riedel and Daniel Meise had the opportunity to ‘shine’ again. Philip Bruns unfortunately didn't take part in the contest, but did a wonderful kickflip down the double set. Tobi Reize unfortunately had some bad luck in his run, but was otherwise amazingly consistent. Newcomer Chris Kendon from Münster was also pretty stable and also made it into the top 3. In the end, the real winner was Johannes Riedel, who had already won once in 2014. A full circle, so to speak. Congratulations to all the winners and it will be interesting to see who will take the title of ‘Local of the Year’ at the final in Cologne on ???
