When we at TITUS did a park check-out of the park in Dortmund-Hombruch, which was newly opened three years ago, it seemed predestined for a contest. The surrounding hills offer spectators a perfect overview, the nearby youth centre a location for catering and the course a favourable shape for smooth lines. The first COS Cup 2025 is due to make its guest appearance in the south of Dortmund at the beginning of July. Should it already be clear who is a contender for the German championship title? Well, let's see and run the facts!

COS Cup Dortmund | German Skateboard Championship 2025
First Tourstop 2025 and Westgerman Championship!
Josh Junkes had emerged from the COS final in Torgau as the 2024 German champion and wanted to seamlessly build on this success in Dortmund. After the preliminary decision on Saturday, it looked like he would, but first things first. As usual, there were a total of 5 groups, Street A and B, both boys and girls, as well as the Ü35 group. Dortmund is conveniently located in the centre-west of Germany, so we were expecting quite a few starters. The Saturday weather was glorious and when we arrived at midday, there were already a number of riders milling around the triangular area. This shape actually proved to be quite sensible, and apart from the Hip, people rarely met each other.
The starting field consisted of the ‘usual suspects’, but unfortunately that was it. Was it perhaps because 3 other contests were taking place on the same weekend? It's always a bit maddening that nobody seems to look at ‘when others are doing what’. The evaluation of the preliminary decision, which was taken over by David Suhari's daughters for the first time, was a little ‘different’. We only got to hear the results of the preliminary decision at the evening dinner back in Münster (thanks to Steffen Krüger) and Josh Junkes had indeed landed in first place again. It was only the preliminary decision, but as rain was forecast for Sunday...
Sunday turned out to be very grey indeed and all the rain apps predicted ‘rain from 15 your’! So a decision had to be made as to which group should ride first. As Josh had moved straight into the final with his first place in the preliminary decision, it was decided to start the Street-A semi-final first and to count the results from this as final results if necessary. However, this also meant that Josh had to ride in this semi-final, as he could not automatically be 1st in the final. And so, as always in such scenarios, there were 2 runs with bails, in complete contrast to Saturday.
