Miniramp Jam 2024 | Presented by Rocketbeans, Warsteiner & Citroën

Another “miniramp massacre” at the Skaters Palace after 4 years!

The Miniramp Jam at the Skaters Palace has been a firm institution for years. Formerly at the beginning of each year, Germany's and increasingly also Europe's transition elite met in Münster's 18-meter monster to kick off the annual contest season. It doesn't feel like it's been that long since the last event, but if you take a look at our blog, you'll have to scroll back a few years. Because, and this shows once again how relative a sense of time can be, the last event of this kind took place in January 2020. After that... there was something...! Right, shortly after that, the Covid19 pandemic set in and the event was forced to take a break. If you think about it, and I'm sure most people do, this unpleasant time is so far away that you could be forgiven for thinking that the pandemic happened ages ago. That's not what you'd think of the last Miniramp Jam, but as I've already mentioned, the perception of time is extremely relative. And so it should finally be time again on the last weekend of November 2024. Let the carnage begin!

As with the last event in 2020, the guys from the TITUS organization had set themselves the goal of inviting as many international stars as possible to the event. A few Danes, a few Dutch, the Belgians anyway and, last but not least, some of the best German miniramp rippers did indeed find their way to the Münsterland. Commuting from Copenhagen to our tranquil Westphalian metropolis for an evening wasn't exactly a matter of course, but Dannie Carlssen, Björn Lillesoe and Justin “Pastey” Ashby made the journey and the associated stress - Mad Respect Boys! The Belgians and Dutch didn't have quite as far to travel, but of course they also deserve great respect, which paid off in the end.

The last and aforementioned arrived on Friday evening which then again lasted a little longer. Pastey expressed the wish to eat a real German currywurst the next day and of course we had to fulfill this wish. So from the early afternoon, a crew of 8 skateboarders went on a little street session to Media-Mark Currywurst Stand, including slappies under the bridge around the corner from Skaters Palace. Another downhill in the parking garage and back at the hall, we were able to check in to the sacred dormitories above the ramp.

In addition to Rob Roulaux, mastermind on the mic since time immemorial, Willow (the “old man”) also found his way to Münster with his son Alvar and, like Pastey, spontaneously supported Timo Krone and Stefan Schülingkamp with Judgen. That's how it should be! David Braun and Tim Gerstenberg from TITUS Retail took care of everything technically necessary and we were ready to go at around 7pm.

First there was some practice and then we started a 45-minute “Organized Jam to Best Line Counts” session. In other words, everyone in an organized order one after the other, everyone can ride as long as they want or bail and the best line counts. Not the longest, the best. However, at some point it was the same, as Toon Dierckx combined both and was unanimously seen by everyone as the winner of this part of the event. The rest of the placings were a little more complicated, but that's what judges are for. The “Best Trick over the Latter” session followed, which Jason Lijnzaat won with a Varial Kickflip Indy over it - but his Fs Flip Stalefish Grab would probably have been enough for the win.

To give everyone a few more opportunities to make some small change, a “cash for tricks” format followed at the wheel of fortune, the bank on the platform and the wall ride, which lives up to its name. Anyone who has ever been to the Palace knows how tightly the thing hangs under the ceiling and how steep the extension is. Björn Lillesoe put a Bs Disaster on it, but unfortunately couldn't manage the Fs Invert. Or did he? Who knows? Dannie Carlsson's Fs Pivot to fakie was no less impressive and Jason Lijnzaat gave it his all again with a Bs Nosepick. Yes, and then it was over again. Three hours of intense miniramp action were behind us and now the riders could relax and enjoy the Dosenbeatz party. There was plenty of beer and no complaints. Get well soon to Julian Adomako, who unfortunately injured his knee. Thanks to all the sponsors, TITUS, Toy Machine, Pepper Griptape, Bones Bearings, Rocketbeans, Citroën, Warsteiner, the Skaters Palace and all the riders and spectators who made the first Miniramp Jam since Covid19 a complete success - YOU are the best!
