History of Atticus

The brand was founded in Los Angeles in 2001, by Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge of Blink 182, and their childhood friend Dylan Anderson. Inspired by music, Atticus aims to support up-and-coming bands, and with their stylish Atticus t-shirts, Atticus, hoodies, and Atticus caps, the brand quickly found a loyal fan base.

The name Atticus

The name of the brand hails from the 1960 Pulitzer-prize-winning novel ‘To Kill A Mocking Bird’ by Harper Lee. The brand’s classic logo of the bird lying on the ground which is featured on numerous Atticus t-shirts is also inspired by this novel. Additionally, the Greek rhetorician Herodes Atticus who used his wealth and fortune to support music and arts is another namesake.

The Atticus mission

The mission of the three founders is to create clothing items which represent the individuality of their wearer. Just like music which aims to inspire people across all borders. With the ‘Dragging The Lake Compilation CDs’, the brand supports bands such as Blink 182, Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Name Taken, Bane, Rocket From The Crypt, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Death Cab for Cutie, and Coheed and Cambria.
